"nothin but the blood of Jesus"

Today in Church, we were treated to the best musical worship I have heard since we came back to the "warm place". It was so full and musically mature, right smack dab on the money as for as timing and tempo and very spiritual. I found myself really hearing lyrics and since the preparation was done, musically it selfishly made me happy. Is that bad, I think not.
I recalled a 16 year old young man that was just learning to play guitar. He joined the worship team which I played drums for and gradually began to add to the sound. As he grew in talent and maturity, he and I became friends. When at a mens retreat, he and his brothers and I broke bread in a lesson/ceremony and along with one other youth, we became brothers in Christ, I will always remember that night.
Jordan Emmans and I were the rythym section and therefore had to be on the same page. One Thursday night rehersal, we had both shown up early and he wanted to try something a little diferent but was afraid of the possible reactions. He wanted to spruce up "Nothing but the blood of Jesus". I was a bit scared myself but I listened to his ideas and we gave her a whirl. Well, the first time we ran through the new arrangement, we hit it on the nosey, as it were. It immediately became a team and congregation favorite. Say what you will, but those Emmans boys have got some guts! It was such a good lesson to all who heard it. Its OK to change a song, its not scripture you know. Whew!
Fast forward, Jordan is probably 30 years old now. He just finished 2 years in Korea teaching English and forming a band and cutting his first CD. When he got back to the good ole USA (Florida) in May, he started a trek to California, 4028 miles, on his bike! He arrived a couple weeks ago and today he lead the worship team and the congregation in song.
I dont really know why, but I feel a sense of pride in him, kinda like one of my Little Leaguers who is now a succesful adult. Anyway, not to get too sappy here, but, yes, it was a good day in the house of the Lord, and yo really could feel the warmth of cool.
